Illness or Injury

A. Illness of Injury

1. All Teachers are allowed a minimum of twelve (12) sick days of absence per school year for illness without loss of salary. Sick leave accumulation is unlimited.

2. Sick leave is to be interpreted as absence due to illness or injury on the part of the Teacher, any member of the Teacher's immediate family, or any designated person sharing the Teacher's residence on a permanent basis. Immediate family is defined as parents, spouse, brothers, sisters, children, grandparents, grandparents-in-law, grandchildren, parents-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, and legal guardians.

3. Teachers shall notify the District sub-caller at the Teacher's earliest convenience of a pending sick day. The District may require documentation from a physician licensed to practice medicine, or a properly authorized physician assistant, as a basis for pay during leave after an absence of three (3) consecutive days for personal illness or injury, or as it may deem necessary in other cases. If the District does require documentation as a basis for pay during leave of less than three (3) consecutive days, the District shall pay the expenses incurred by the Teacher in obtaining the certificate and provide written reason for such request to the Teacher and to CTC.
