Reduction in Force (RIF and Recall)

- 1. The Board agrees
to follow the procedure as prescribed in the School Code of Illinois.
In addition, the administration will meet with the CTC representative
to discuss anticipated layoffs of Teachers prior to presentation
to the Board.

- 2. The order of
RIF (as detailed in the RIF Flowchart shown in Appendix D), provided
remaining Teachers are legally qualified to perform the needed
service(s), shall be:
- a. Probationary
Teachers prior to tenured Teachers unless there is no tenured
Teacher legally qualified to hold the probationary Teacher's
position
- b. Tenured Teachers
by inverse order of seniority.

- 3. Such layoff notice
shall be made by certified mail and in accordance with the Illinois
School Code.

- 4. Recall of tenured
Teachers shall be by seniority provided the employee is legally
qualified to perform the service(s) required of the position.
The Board will maintain a recall list for twenty-four (24) months
following the last date of employment as specified in the notice
of reduction-in-force for each affected employee. Those Teachers
failing to accept the offer of recall to employment within five
(5) days from receiving notification of recall will be dropped
from the recall list.
