Professional Planning and Staff Development

Release Time
- The District
will provide two and a half (2½) student non-attendance
days for all Teachers for common planning. During each of the
two (2) full student non-attendance days, a principal may elect
to hold a staff meeting which shall not exceed thirty (30) minutes.

Plan Time
- a.
Elementary Schools - Individual Plan Time
- For the
2006-2007 school year, each Teacher in grades 1-6 will have a
minimum of four (4) thirty (30) continuous minute individual
planning times per week and one (1) sixty (60) continuous minute
individual plan time every other week. Beginning in the 2007-2008
school year, each Teacher in grades 1-6 will have a minimum of
four (4) thirty (30) continuous minute individual planning times
per week and one (1) sixty (60) continuous minute individual
plan time per week. Every effort will be made to distribute
the planning time evenly throughout the week so Teachers receive
planning time each day. Special area Teachers will receive the
equivalent of one hundred fifty (150) minutes of planning time
per week in the 2006-2007 school year. Beginning in the 2007-2008
school year, special area Teachers will receive the equivalent
of one hundred eighty (180) minutes of planning time per week,
in no less than twenty (20) minute increments.

Jr. High Schools
- Each
Teacher in Jr. High will have a minimum of two (2) planning periods
per day, one individual plan period and one team plan period.
The length of these periods will be in accordance with the jr.
high school scheduled periods. The length of the jr. high academic
period shall range from thirty-five (35) to forty-five (45) minutes.
