ARTICLE IX
Shared Decision Making

Community Consolidated School District 15 believes that continuous improvement in the quality of education for students depends on the capacity of all people in the educational community to share in the decision-making process. The purpose of shared decision making is to enable people to make good decisions that will address the existing and emerging needs of students and improve their levels of achievement. Shared decision making thus provides administrators, teachers, support staff, students, parents, and community members greater involvement in the educational process. This shared responsibility for making decisions causes more ownership and commitment which produces higher quality decisions. Shared decision making implies that everyone has the opportunity to improve the life of District 15 students and help to develop the District's mission of A TRUE LEARNING COMMUNITY. The District-developed shared decision making manual will serve as a guide for the implementation and support of shared decision making in the District.
